Instead of stones, The Kitchen Mill - Grain Mill uses a computer-balanced Micronetic Chamber to grind grain into flour. This type of chamber is used in the pharmaceutical industry to create exact uniform particles for medicines. Blendtec made history by being the first manufacturer to bring the dependability of micronetics into the home for kitchen use.
The trouble with stones
Stone mills often gum up, crack, chip, or glaze. They can leave grit in your flour. Stone mills are generally hard to clean, and can harbor bacteria which contaminates flour. They are also heavy and hard to lift; hardly a convenient appliance for the kitchen.
New smaller size
In this shipping carton the Kitchen Mill - Grain Mill weighs just 8 pounds. You can easily pick it up with one hand. When not in use the flour pan inverts over the mill for compact easy storage. Its dimensions when stored are 10" x 8"x 6".
Virtually indestructible
It is made of only the finest materials by quality craftsmen. The housing and base are made of high impact Lexan. Pan capacity is approximately 15 cups. The milling chamber is self-cleaning and permanently lubricated in a 1-3/4 peak horse power energy saving motor. This dependable design is thoroughly proven and tested by over 100,000 satisfied customers and 12 years of research and engineering refinements.
How it makes flour
The milling chamber consists of two stainless steel parts with concentric rows of stainless steel teeth. These teeth spin within each other at high speed. Grain enters in the center of the chamber and by centrifugal force hits the several rows of milling teeth. These teeth burst the grain into the best flour you've ever used in baking.
Low temperature milling
None of the moving metal parts actually touch so there is no excessive heat. Since the mill has no rubbing surfaces to wear out, cause friction, or get hot, the flour stays cooler. This means the valuable nutrients are not destroyed.
Unlocks high nutrition
The addition of whole grains to your diet is essential to vibrant, good health. Natural high fiber helps the body stay slim. Fresh milled flours contain the vitamins, minerals and fiber so often lacking in today's diet.
Mills all grains
It beautifully mills all dry grains such as corn, wheat, rice, barley, and oats. Oily soy beans mill into a nutritious, high protein flour. Hard popcorn kernels transform into a beautiful yellow flour bursting with flavor.
Better Nutrition
Freshly flaked and ground grains have more of the original vitamins, minerals and oils than those bought in the store. Fresh milled means better taste and health benefits for your body. Whole grains are more nutritious than refined grains. Natural kernels of whole wheat, for example, contain 16 minerals, 10 essential vitamins, and at least 4 other vitamin factors generally found in bran and wheat germ. White flour, however, is refined from the endosperm and consists of mostly starch and a small amount of protein. White flour contains very little vitamins or minerals. Nutrition experts have joined praise in the Kitchen Mill - Grain Mill as a way to use 100% of nature's goodness to improve your health and nutrition. Our Hand Grain Mill is a machine of new conception with which it is possible to prepare in a few minutes excellent fresh cereal flakes such as oats, wheat and rye, and the good flour of wheat, rye, rice and other cereals. Its use is very simple and its function is described as follows.
Our hand grain mill functions through the use of three special rollers which turn at differentiated speeds. These rollers are operated by the handle. The distance between the rollers can be regulated by use of the regulating knob which has 3 positions: Position 1 - to obtain flour, Position 2 & 3 - to obtain cereal flakes.
Flour
To obtain flour, the three rollers of the hand grain mill work contemporaneously. The first pair (Rollers 1 and 2) breaks the grain, while the second pair (Rollers 2 and 3), which has a different speed, produces the flour. By operating Position 1 on the regulating knob, you can obtain every type of whole grain flour for bread, pasta, desserts, biscuits, etc. If you desire to obtain a finer flour, pass the flour through the rollers a few more times.
Flakes
With the regulating knob in these positions, roller 3 does not operate. Only rollers 1 and 2 operate at this setting, and they have the function of crushing the grains in order to obtain cereal flakes of the thickness desired.

Health Benefits of Whole Grains
Numerous studies suggest that eating whole grains contributes to better health, and may also help protect against cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity. The USDA recommends consuming 3 servings of whole grains every day, but most Americans consume on average only 1 serving of whole grains each day.
Whole grains and cancer
Substantial scientific evidence indicates that whole grains reduce cancer risk. The key cancer-fighting agents in whole grains are dietary fiber. Additional studies have found that higher serum insulin levels are associated with increased risk of colon, breast, and possibly other cancers - and whole grains appear to reduce these insulin levels.
Whole grains and cardiovascular disease
Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death and disability of both men and women in the United States. There is strong evidence to link the consumption of whole grains to a reduced risk for coronary heart disease
Whole grains and diabetes
Whole grains are known to affect glucose and insulin responses, partly due to their slow digestibility. Several studies have shown that cereal fiber intake is associated with reduced risk for diabetes.
Whole grains and obesity
Some studies suggest an association between whole grain intake and the regulation of body weight. Somel factors of this may be due to the high volume, low energy density and the relatively lower palatability of whole grain foods may promote satiation. Also, whole grains may delay hunger from returning after a meal.
